Christian Bovet is a full professor at the Faculty of Law, where he was Dean from 2007 to 2012.
From 2005 to 2011, he was vice-president of the Swiss telecommunications market regulator, the Swiss Federal Communications Commission (ComCom). He practiced law for several years as a partner in a Geneva law firm specializing in business law. He holds an LL.M. from Columbia University School of Law, New York (1988) and worked for more than a year in New York as a foreign associate in the international law firm Debevoise & Plimpton. He chairs the board of the Walther Hug Foundation, which annually awards prizes to the authors of the best doctoral theses defended in Switzerland and periodically awards a prize to a professor in recognition of the excellence of his academic work.
He also chairs, on the one hand, the board of directors of the SAC in compliance management, a continuing education program organized jointly by the Center for Banking and Financial Law and the Centro di Studi Bancari, and, on the other hand, the audit committee of the Swiss subsidiary of a major international banking group. In 2009-2011, he co-led the working group in charge of revising the Cartel Act. He is also a member of the editorial board of the journal Concurrences. He is a member of the Lawyers' Examination Commission, as well as a member of the Board of the Foundation for Medical Research and a former member of the Foundation Board of the Swiss Banking Ombudsman.
